Appointments: Appointment required and scheduled online through the MVD scheduler (cars.dojmt.gov); pre-application must be completed online before the visit.
Bring: Proof of identity (birth certificate or passport), proof of Montana residency, Social Security number, parental consent if under 18, and traffic education completion if under 16. Pre-application must be completed at dojmt.gov/mydrive.
If you don't pass: Up to 3 attempts; must wait 24 hours between attempts and pay the retest fee each time; after 3 failures the licensing process restarts. Wait 1 day(s) before retaking.
Renewing Your License in Montana
