Taking the Knowledge Test in Minnesota

Format: Computer (40 multiple-choice and true/false questions, 80% to pass).
Appointments: Appointment required and can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance at DVS exam stations or authorized third-party proctors.
Bring: Primary and secondary identification (proof of identity, date of birth, and Minnesota residency). Applicants under 18 need parent/guardian signature and proof of driver education enrollment.
If you don't pass: Unlimited attempts (one per day); first two attempts included in permit fee, $10 fee applies to third and later retakes.
Renewing Your License in Minnesota
