GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)

The maximum operating weight of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer, including cargo and passengers.

GVWR is the manufacturer-set safety limit, not the actual loaded weight. The 26,001 lb threshold for CDL requirement applies to the rated GVWR — even if you load it lightly, a vehicle rated above 26,001 lbs requires a CDL.
